See How Mast Contracting Helped Linda B.
Create A Beautiful, Functional Kitchen
At Mast Contracting, we offer comprehensive design services for kitchen remodeling on the Ocean City shoreline. However, not every customer uses these services. Every once in a while, we’ll work from plans provided by a third-party designer.
Unfortunately, the designs we get from outside parties aren’t always up to par.
That’s what local homeowner Linda B. discovered when we reviewed the plans drawn up by her personal designer. These plans contained a significant oversight that would have interfered with the function of two major appliances.
How did the team at Mast respond to the situation? We altered the design and fixed the problem, at zero added expense for the homeowner.
It cost us a bit of time and money, but that’s fine. As long as Linda had a beautiful, functional kitchen, we were more than happy to come to the rescue.
The Kitchen Remodeling Plans From Linda’s Designer
Linda wanted to do some kitchen remodeling in her Ocean City shoreline home. As her first step, she looked for a designer to draw up plans for the project. Only after completing this step did she hire Mast Contracting to do the remodel itself.
Whenever possible, we like to do our own design work in-house. That’s true for a couple of reasons.
First, we’ve developed an extremely thorough kitchen design process. This process takes every last detail into account on projects of all sizes. As a result, we can streamline this first crucial step in successful remodeling.
Just as importantly, when you choose us, your designers and builders are always on the same page. Since they’re all part of a single team, they know exactly what your project requires.
Linda’s Designer Makes A Notable Mistake
But in this situation, we were working from pre-existing plans. When we reviewed those plans, we quickly spotted a serious error.
When adding new cabinets to the kitchen layout, her designer had misjudged the amount of required space. The result? The cabinets were positioned in ways that interfered with the operation of the kitchen’s oven and dishwasher doors.
This was no trivial matter. If the kitchen were built as designed, Linda wouldn’t be able to properly use two workhorse kitchen appliances.
To make matters even worse, the designer had already ordered the cabinets. This meant that Linda’s project was in a tricky, and potentially costly, no man’s land.
Needless to say, Linda was surprised when we told her about the mistake. She was also concerned about what could be done to remedy the situation.

An Updated Kitchen Remodel Approach From Mast
How did the professionals at Mast Contracting deal with the design flaw? The solution required a quick, effective rethink.
We knew that sending the cabinets back would cost Linda dearly in terms of both time and money. So we decided to rework what was already there.
Our No-Cost Remedy For Linda And Her Household
Over the next three days, we modified the kitchen layout to accommodate the new cabinets and Linda’s oven and dishwasher doors. To make the necessary changes, we spent about $500 for extra materials.
When we were done, Linda had a lovely remodeled kitchen that was fully functional in every respect. But that’s not all.
We knew that the kitchen remodeling mix-up wasn’t Linda’s fault. She was just going with the advice provided by her designer.
It just didn’t seem right to charge her for the added materials and labor. So we didn’t.
Instead, we presented her with a bill for the original agreed upon price. There was just no other way for us to handle the situation to her and our satisfaction.
