Our Story: A Note From Our Founder
Hey there, I’m Matt Stoehr, founder and owner of Mast Contracting.
I’d like to tell you why I opened my home remodeling company. In truth, I could’ve done anything. Why’d I choose this line of work?
Well, it all started after I graduated with a finance degree. Despite the degree, I didn’t have much money to throw around. So, my parents offered me free rent if I managed the renovation of their beach condo in Ocean City, MD.
It seemed like a convenient, easy idea at the time…
But alas, the following six months were an eye-opening experience of “acceptable” home remodeling. I saw issues like no running water for weeks, shoddy tile work, a lack of prep before painting, and general uncleanliness.
What was even more frustrating for me was the lack of communication. Communication with my subcontractors (who you wouldn’t trust when they walked through the door) was almost non-existent!
A mess, but I struggled through the experience, got it done, and learned…a lot.
Fast-forward 14 years. I worked for a large general contractor (a hotel builder) and ran a local home remodeling company. These positions helped me learn the ins and outs of creating a successful team and what clients expect and deserve.
Eventually, though, I’d had enough.
I decided it was finally time to go out on my own!
With a deep understanding of homeowner pain points from all angles, I compiled a list of non-negotiables.

My goal is to ensure you LOVE your new living spaces. So, I hire my own tradespeople (our crews are the BEST) and don’t use subcontractors. This allows me and my team to take 100% ownership of your project and take on any challenge that pops up in the process.
I’d put my employees against anyone in the area as the finest tradespeople around the Eastern Shore. I truly believe that. Their ability to perform the work at a high quality and do so in a manner that respects your home is unmatched.
