Work On The Parsons’ Bath Remodeling Project Begins
Bath remodeling is one of the most frequently requested services at Mast Contracting. On the Ocean City, MD Shoreline, we perform this work in condominiums, as well as in standalone residences.
Not long ago, the Parsons made plans for us to remodel a full bathroom in their local condo. This work proceeds in phases.
First comes the demolition and removal of the room’s existing materials.
Next, we do all required plumbing and electrical work behind the bathroom walls. Only then do we install the materials that will form the room’s new finished surfaces.
Uncovering A Previous Electrical Contractor’s Shoddy Work
The demo portion of the Parsons’ project went smoothly. However, things took an abrupt turn for the worse when we got a close-up view of the electrical system.
Frankly, it’s hard to imagine a lower standard of work from a professional electrician. Everything was improperly wired – the lights, the baseboard heater, even the exhaust fan.
This was no minor concern. As our project foreman immediately understood, it was a total disaster just waiting to happen.
A Plan To Address The Major Remodeling Setback
Rewiring the electrical connections wasn’t in the scope of our bath remodeling plan. Still, there was no time to delay.
Our foreman got on the phone and let our owner, Matt, know what he’d found. Soon, we were having an urgent conversation with the homeowners.
During this conversation, we explained the situation to them. We also emphasized the need for prompt action to address it. This meant there was no time for the Parsons to shop around for another contractor.

Fixing The Problem At The Same Bath Remodel Cost
In no time, our thoroughly vetted electrician arrived on-site. He removed all the improperly installed wiring and replaced it. Unlike the previous electrician, he made sure everything was safely in place and fully up to code.
We could have charged the Parsons for this added service. After all, we helped them tackle a serious problem that wasn’t our responsibility.
However, the couple’s budget was already maxed out, and we didn’t want to add to their financial burden. So, we chose the more customer-friendly option – we paid the electrician ourselves. The Parsons’ remodeling costs stayed the same as before.
Seeing their response to the finished remodel made everything worth it. They were overjoyed that the bathroom they always wanted was now a reality.
